LION’S MANE (Hericium Erinaceus) and Brain Health

A study published in "Phytotherapy Research" in 2009 investigated the effects of Hericium erinaceus on improving cognition in a group of Japanese individuals. The results suggested improvements in cognitive function in a group of adults with mild cognitive decline who consumed the mushroom for 16.

A review study published in the "Journal of Ethnopharmacology" highlighted the neuroprotective properties of Cordyceps, suggesting potential for treating neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

A study investigated the antioxidant properties of Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) extract and its potential as an anti-ageing ingredient in cosmetic products. The study highlighted Chaga's ability to decrease oxidative stress in the skin, suggesting benefits in protecting against skin ageing.

These studies indicate that medicinal mushrooms can offer various benefits for skin health, including improvements in moisturisation, reduction of inflammation, antioxidant protection and antimicrobial properties.

 

They are becoming increasingly popular ingredients in skincare products, highlighting their potential in the cosmetics and beauty industry. However, more clinical research is needed to confirm these effects and determine the most effective formulations.
